Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Product Merchandising & Costing Coordinator to support our General Manager, Sales, and Design teams in product development, costing, and market preparation. This role is ideal for an early-career professional looking to build expertise in merchandising, wholesale pricing, and supplier communication while gaining exposure to cross-functional operations in the footwear/apparel industry.
Salary: $45k -$55k annually (New York, NY)
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Costing & Pricing Support
- Assist with preparing target wholesale and retail price lists.
- Help review prototype pricing margins and track cost updates.
- Support communication with design and suppliers on cost adjustments to meet margin goals.
- Prepare and maintain costing line sheets and assist with market pricing reviews.
- Market & Sales Support
- Assist with scheduling and preparing materials for buy reviews.
- Collaborate with sales and the GM to track MOQs and order needs.
- Support margin and delivery reviews for customer orders.
- Operational Support
- Assist with preparing buy overviews and data for CFO review.
- Prepping information for the sized POs (color/material level) for production entry.
- Help track inventory and margin KPIs.
- Support ad hoc buy requests and gather necessary details for CFO approvals.
- Supplier & Product Development Support
- Assist with communication to suppliers regarding buys, cost negotiations, and timelines.
- Participate in reviewing TOPs (Top of Production samples) and help summarize feedback.
- Support in resolving quality issues by gathering product details and documentation.
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Participate in competitive shopping trips and help prepare reports.
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of experience in merchandising, product development, planning, or related field (internships included).
- Strong interest in footwear, apparel, or consumer goods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with data.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple teams.
